BLOG: Showstopper Spillings: Ultimate Warrior… My First HBK…

Below is the second instalment of the “Showstopper Spillings” series by Scott. This week he pays tribute to the Ultimate Warrior after his sudden death last week. He looks at the very limited encounters with Shawn, and the impact these two legends could of made.

In a week when the passing of the Ultimate Warrior came just over 2 days after he had come home, to the WWE, The Hall Of Fame and WrestleMania I wanted to add my tribute to the Warrior. I have been involved one way or another with pro wrestling since the age of 5, I am 31 now. The first wrestler I ever liked was the Ultimate Warrior. The magic of his entrance, the intensity and the craziness of his strength and power just totally hooked me. When Warrior joined teams with the Rockers at Survivor Series 1988 I was totally blown away. I loved the Rockers, the blonde haired kid always caught my eye. But I must admit it was Warrior who I couldn’t stop watching at that point, the guy was fantastic. Shawn Michaels posing with the Ultimate Warrior When Warrior left WWF in 1991, my attention focused on Shawn Michaels and Mr. Perfect. But when he came back in 1992 and 1996 I still loved the Ultimate Warrior. Time and time again I wanted to see Warrior vs. HBK what a match that would have been. Babyface vs. Babyface, who could have sold Warriors offence more than HBK. The closet we ever got to HBK/Warrior, was a 6 man tag that nearly happened in 1996 (pictured left). Unfortunately this didn’t happen, as Warrior left WWF shortly before the PPV match and was replaced by Sid. With a doubt, the passing and timing of the Ultimate Warrior is one of the most sad and full circle events to happen in WWE. In a world

Excellent tribute episode Scott, also touching on some key and memorable moments. Still trying to get round the news of this, one day we see him on Raw then we wake to the news of his passing. Awesome work again Scott, loving the series and the commitment shown. Each episode shows the hard work you put in, keep up the good work buddy!
